REFLECTION

Reflection

As a student of FIU apart of the Global Learning program, I believe that I have developed a greater sense of problem-solving, as a result of becoming more globally aware. The program allowed me to enhance my ability to analyze issues through multiple perspectives, and acknowledge the interrelation of world problems. Through this, I was able to participate in local, national, and global problem solving, strengthening my global engagement. The knowledge I learned in my Global Learning courses has inspired me to awaken new possibilities and use them to transcend my experiences and goals. I was able to take my passions I developed through my Global Learning experience and use them to promote change within my community through my Congressional Internship.

Being a Global Learning student provided me with opportunities to gain essential skills in intercultural awareness and communication. By engaging with a diverse student body, being involved in various clubs and organizations, and participating in Global Learning courses, I believe that I am equipped with the skills needed to answer local and global complex obstacles. My experience being a Global Learning Student, Hamilton Scholar, and Student Leader have provided me with the ability to become a global citizen and a change agent of society.

Although the past four years as a student may seem like a substantial amount of time to learn about new topics,  there is still more. The vast amount of knowledge I have gathered is a stepping-stone to what I am to learn next. Being a student is not only limited to being enrolled in a school or program, but rather your ability to continue learning outside of a classroom. I plan to continue my studies by enrolling in Law School and working towards a career in public service. Afterward, I will pursue a career in an organization dedicated to promoting social and economic equity for minority populations domestically. I hope to one day be able to work in Congress improving the quality of life of citizens or in a non-profit serving disproportionately affected communities.

I am confident that the skills I developed at FIU will propel me professionally and allow me to make a difference in the world.
